I’m really excited about this post because it is my first DIY that I’m sharing with you! I talk about my garbage picking treasures all the time on my Instagram stories and today I’m showing you a piece that I just found a couple of weeks ago. I love to find old wood, and I knew that I loved the character of this piece. I don’t exactly know what it is, but I loved the details so I thought I could make it look cute with the rest of my decor. You know what I love most about garbage picking? The pieces that you find are so unique! I found this old piece of wood and I’m going to be showing you how I turned it into an adorable chalkboard. You can pretty much do this with any flat piece of wood and the process is so easy! My mom helped me since I’m still new at the whole painting thing, but I was so surprised at how simple it actually was!
Before:
Don’t you just love the details on the edges? I think this piece of wood was some sort of backing to something, but I’m really loving how it turned out as a chalkboard! This project was seriously so simple. All you have to do is clean the wood properly and sand if needed, then spray the entire thing with chalkboard paint. I used spray paint because it is SO much easier to get everything covered. I also did three coats to make sure it was painted evenly.

I love how it turned out! I’m excited to be sharing more of my finds with you! Let me know what you think!
