Touches of a Scandinavian Christmas

November 29, 2017

I have been so busy lately that I haven’t had much time to blog. Today, I’m sharing a few touches that I like to add to my Christmas decor that go along with the Scandinavian theme I’ve been talking about. I’ll be sharing many more Christmas decor blog posts talking about how I incorporate red and some plaid as well! There are a few basic things that I like to add such as bells, books, and candles. In the photos shown below, you’ll be able to see how I incorporate these items into my Christmas decor.

Bells

I used one brass bell that I purchased from the Hearth & Home by Magnolia collection at Target along with some simple rust colored jingle bells from Hobby Lobby. I love the look that these bells bring. You can use them so many different ways and I like to experiment and play around with them. I’ll even use the jingle bells mixed with greens on Christmas presents.

Cinnamon Sticks

I love cinnamon sticks mixed in with the decor. I’ve seen so many unique uses for these, but I love a classic “bundle” of cinnamon with some twine and greens. You can then place it anywhere you want and it will look great.

Books

Books aren’t technically a Christmas item, but they can add so much texture and character to the look that you are going for. I’ve mentioned previously in my Vignette Post that I like to add books to complete any vignette. I like to decorate with them in a variety of different ways, such as stacked, open, etc… The great thing about decorating with books is that you can also use them to create height for an item that you want to be taller than another.

Candles and Candlestick Holders

I just recently picked up this black candlestick holder from an antique store. It’s actually my first one and I thought it would look great with the rest of my theme. I also used a birchwood candle shown above. This candle won’t only add another item to a vignette, but also some texture which I love. Decorating with candles and candlesticks can be a good way to add some extra texture or character to any space.

Cable knit Stockings and Greens

I just picked up this stocking from Bed Bath and Beyond for under $20! It is an exact dupe for the Land’s End stocking that is sold out in this cream color. It has the fur pom poms like the Land’s End one as well, but I tucked them into the stocking because they didn’t match this look. This stocking looks so cozy and adds warmth and texture to your Christmas decor, along with greens that I like to add everywhere. Greens are a necessity of mine, I love them so much! No matter the season, I have to have some kind of greens to decorate with. They complete any look.

I hope you enjoyed this post! There are many more Christmas decor posts to come!

I love all these sweet touches! I definitely tend to gravitate towards the simpler decorations, and consider a fresh plate of kringle during the Holidays important too. 🙂

It’s hard to move past things that hurt so deeply. I hope you will find peace in this post, because I understand how difficult letting go can be.

In other news, I’m feeling so pampered after meeting up with a friend to get a mani/pedi. I don’t do it often, but I just love getting my nails done. Having pretty nails makes me feel so confident. What have you done recently that makes you feel confident?
