Before and After: Faux Card Catalog

June 22, 2018

I couldn’t wait to share this post with you all! If you’ve seen any of my recent posts, then you know I’ve recently started painting furniture. You can see my first painting project here. Today, I’m going to be showing you the before and after photos of another project that I just finished. My mom found this gorgeous piece on the side of the road and as soon as I saw it, I knew what I wanted to do with it! The detail on the doors made this a great piece for a faux card catalog.

As with my last project, I used Magnolia Home Chalk Style Paint. I love this paint and it works really well. I’m thinking about trying out a few other chalk paint brands for some more color options, but I would highly recommend the Magnolia Paint. As always with chalk paint, no priming or sanding is needed. However, a lot of my pieces have some of the wood chipping, so those are the only areas that I sand down.

I love the detail on this piece. I chose the color “blackboard” because I wanted a black shade. You can shop the paint here. This color has a deep blue undertone to it, which I love, but I will also be on the look out for some darker black chalk paint as well. The new hardware is from Amazon, you can find it here. I knew I wanted rubbed bronze drawer pulls for this piece to give it the perfect look. I also used Magnolia clear wax to seal this piece to prevent chipping. Find the wax here.

I’ve been loving refinishing furniture and making it look like new! I’m so excited to learn more techniques as I go. I would love to see your refinished projects!

Emily

To the girl that can’t let it go, I hear you. I To the girl that can’t let it go, I hear you. I wrote a new blog post just for you, up on prettyinplaids.com now. ❤️ Forgiveness is hard. It’s hard to move past things that hurt so deeply. I hope you will find peace in this post, because I understand how difficult letting go can be.

In other news, I’m feeling so pampered after meeting up with a friend to get a mani/pedi. I don’t do it often, but I just love getting my nails done. Having pretty nails makes me feel so confident. What have you done recently that makes you feel confident?
I was published in a national magazine! I have bee I was published in a national magazine! I have been keeping it a little secret from Instagram for a couple days, but one of my chalk paint projects was published in the June/July issue of @countrywomanmagazine! This is such an honor for me. I have dreamed of this moment and I still can’t believe it actually happened. I wrote a whole blog post that’s live now, so head to the link in my bio to read it! I am so grateful to have this space to share my ideas and designs, and to you all who support me along the way. One of my absolute favorite aspects of blogging ha One of my absolute favorite aspects of blogging has to be building relationships with brands that I have grown to love. @coppercure is one of my favorite shops for my love of copper and they were so generous to gift me with this pitcher. The quality is outstanding and it looks beautiful. I threw together a copper styling guide on the blog today and would love for you to check it out! The link is in my bio. ❤️
