Formulate Hair Care Review

February 15, 2019

Formulate reached out to me and wanted to send some awesome hair products for me to try. I was gifted with a customized shampoo and conditioner and I will be sharing my review of both products in this post. I am also hosting a giveaway where you could win your own customized set! The giveaway will be at the bottom of this post so be sure to check that out as well! The thing that I love most about Formulate is that their products are completely customized to your specific hair type. I struggle with my hair being super oily, it’s so ridiculous. That is partly why I was so excited for this collaboration, to try some awesome products just for me!

Hair Quiz

I took a hair quiz to specify what my hair type is, what my hair problems are, and what I hope my new shampoo and conditioner will achieve. It is really easy to take the quiz and only takes a few minutes. I also picked the scent of my products in the quiz, so I would recommend picking a favorite. Below are a few images of the quiz to take, just so you get an idea of what it is.

Packaging

Shipping didn’t take too long, I believe I got my box in about 1-2 weeks after placing the order. When the box arrived, it was nice and neatly packaged which I love. I love good packaging, especially when you can tell that a lot of thought went into it. My box came with my two bottles, two pumps for the bottles so it’s easy to use in the shower, and some instructions telling me what my products include and where I’m headed in my hair journey.

Products:

Shampoo: I really liked the shampoo. The formula was a bit more runny than my usual shampoo, but it works really well. It also lathers less than my normal shampoo. My biggest wish was oil control, and I think it’s doing a great job with that. I did notice that was hair was a little oily after my first use, which was totally expected. Switching from my normal hair shampoo to a much better product for my hair was bound to do that. After a couple of washes, it was back to normal. I also noticed that my hair was very smooth after I blow dried it. Overall, I love the shampoo a lot! I love that it’s great for my hair.

Conditioner: The formula of the conditioner was very similar to my normal conditioner. It made my hair super soft and smooth, which I loved. My hair looks healthy and I love the results. I used a little less than the recommended dosage since I struggle with the oil issue, and less conditioner helps my hair not be be so heavy and helps to hold a curl better.

Scent: I chose a eucalyptus scent and it is amazing! I love strong scents so I also chose the maximum amount of strength. It makes my hair smell great and is very soothing as well. I’m sure all of their scents are great, but I would highly recommend the eucalyptus.

Results

I would say that my results were very good. Below is an image after just my second use of both the shampoo and conditioner right after I showered and blow dried my hair. The image right next to it is my hair the day AFTER. It was slightly styled also the night before, right after I blow dried it, and you can see the pretty waves that held up pretty good over night. I think the products are working and I also feel better putting quality ingredients into my hair.
