Chalk Painted Furniture Inspiration

April 6, 2019

Painting a piece of furniture is a great way to preserve the old but bring in the new. Painting old or even knew furniture with chalk paint has become very popular over the last few years and I am going to be showing you my personal portfolio of some of my furniture projects. Before and After shots are my absolute favorite because it documents how something old and not so pretty can turn into something beautiful if you are willing to put in the work. Here is my portfolio of chalk painted projects that I have painted for myself and others. All of these pieces also have a finishing wax applied to them, whether it be clear, dark, or both. I hope that you can find some inspiration in these shots.

Before and After

  • Wooden end table
  • End table with white chalk paint
  • Wooden table
  • Chalk painted black table with drawer pulls
  • Dark stained magazine rack/end table
  • Chalk painted white magazine rack/end table
  • Wooden milking stool
  • Chalk painted white milking stool
  • Wooden rocking chair painted white
  • Wooden rocking chair painted white with dark wax

Final Thoughts

As you can see from these photos above, paint holds a ton of power when it comes to transforming a piece of furniture. Adding a fresh coat of chalk paint, adding wax (whether it be clear or colored), distressing, and adding some new hardware can make a tremendous difference to the look of furniture. I found a lot of these pieces on the side of the road, for a very reasonable price at a garage or estate sale, or even given to me for free. That right there goes to show that one man’s trash really is another man’s treasure. Some of these pieces of furniture weren’t much to look at and no one wanted to bother with them the way that they were. I was able to transform these pieces from something plain and boring to something worth looking at and loving. You can do this too. All it takes is a little inspiration and some time to learn. I am in no way an expert but I love being able to learn and improve as I work at it.

It’s hard to move past things that hurt so deeply. I hope you will find peace in this post, because I understand how difficult letting go can be.

In other news, I’m feeling so pampered after meeting up with a friend to get a mani/pedi. I don’t do it often, but I just love getting my nails done. Having pretty nails makes me feel so confident. What have you done recently that makes you feel confident?
I was published in a national magazine! I have bee I was published in a national magazine! I have been keeping it a little secret from Instagram for a couple days, but one of my chalk paint projects was published in the June/July issue of @countrywomanmagazine! One of my absolute favorite aspects of blogging ha One of my absolute favorite aspects of blogging has to be building relationships with brands that I have grown to love. @coppercure is one of my favorite shops for my love of copper and they were so generous to gift me with this pitcher. The quality is outstanding and it looks beautiful. I threw together a copper styling guide on the blog today and would love for you to check it out! The link is in my bio. ❤️
