Wow has it been a while since I’ve been on here! I’ve had quite a few posts lined up in my drafts but never got around to actually finishing them. But, that is about to change! I am feeling so inspired by this fall season and I can’t wait to get back into posting more regularly. I put together a fall tablescape since they are my favorites to make, and I wanted to show you the process and the finished result!
Step One: Gather Items
This step may involve a little shopping, which is never a bad idea. 😉 I like to gather all of the items I want to use for the table and go from there. What things make you think of fall? Pumpkins, leaves, mums, plaid, etc… Use those and work from there. There are always going to be some changes if it’s not looking exactly how you want it to, but that’s okay. The process of being creative and creating something beautiful is so much fun.
Step Two: Play with the Layout
This step is so much fun. For this tablescape, I knew I wanted to use a plaid throw and my absolute favorite fall leaves. These leaves were from a small local boutique, but they ended up closing down. I know that Magnolia carries the same exact ones, you can find them here. For the plaid throw, I bunched it up in the middle of the table to give it a table runner look. In order to add some depth to this tablescape, I added the stacked plates and a pumpkin. These were just small appetizer plates, but you could use anything you wanted in their place. In the pictures below, you’ll see a little of this process.
Step Three: Adjust Florals
I always think this is an important step because I always have trouble with my floral stems facing the wrong way, tilting, etc… So, using some floral foam helps me a lot. I just use a small piece from the Dollar Store or any craft store you can think of. It helps to keep your stems in place if they’re not cooperating.
Step Four: Give and Take Away
This step goes hand in hand with step two, but I noticed that as I was putting this together, I changed the pillow again and also the placement of the leaves. I am so picky and very much a perfectionist, especially when it comes to product placement in my photos. That being said, I did switch things up a couple of times to get it exactly the way I wanted. I didn’t want it to look too cluttered, so a simple tablescape was pretty easy to put together.
Step Five: Final Evaluation
I would say to give one final evaluation of the results. Especially if you are creating this for hosting friends or family, you want to present your best work possible. If everything is exactly in the right place, you are good to go!
Final Results
Here is the final look! I love the cozy textures and patterns of the plaid, pillow, and metal container. The best part is that fall tablescapes can be put together with things that you already own, or also some new items for the season. I hope this helped to get you inspired for the best season of the year! Fall is only a few short days away!
