A Cozy Autumn Basket

October 22, 2020

I cannot believe that we are almost to the end of October! It is going by way too fast. I love this month and I hope to be able to enjoy it as much as I can before it’s gone. I put together a cozy autumn vignette and I am so excited to show it to you. I wanted to show you a way to decorate for fall without using pumpkins. I know, crazy. BUT, I know a lot of people see an overload of pumpkin decor and I wanted to show you a simple way to decorate for the season with items as simple as some pretty faux leaves, a cute basket, and a cozy throw blanket.

A cozy way to bring warmth to any space.

It really is so simple to create cozy, welcoming fall decor that everyone will love. I think it is so important to love your space and surroundings. For me, this means beautiful elements and cozy decorations that I poured my heart into styling. Something as simple as a basket with fall leaves can make such a beautiful statement.

A simple stool and some decor can make all the difference in a cozy home.

Something that I always like to remember when styling different spaces is that less is more. If your space is completely cluttered, the only statement that you will be making is that you have too much stuff. Being selective and strategic about how you style your items will make a positive statement and will also be warm and welcoming.

Sometimes all that you need to create beautiful statements for your home is a simple basket, some leaves, and a cozy blanket. Your fall decorations don’t have to be elaborate to be beautiful. Like I said above, sometimes less is more.

Simple, elegant fall decor.

Basic Steps to Creating a Beautiful Fall Vignette:

  • Choose a focal point. This can be anything, but make sure it’s something that you love because this is going to be attracting the most attention. Examples include a large basket with leaves, a classic piece of art, or even a family photo.
  • Add dimension. This is like decor tip 101, but it is so important to make sure that your space isn’t too dull or boring. Adding some dimension can add so much to your vignette and really pulls everything together. Examples include layering with garland, staggering, or adjusting height.
  • Pay attention to detail. Make sure you pay attention to those tiny details that can make or break the style of your vignette. Adding simple touches like an extra leaf branch beside your basket can add a lot to your vignette.
  • Choose fall elements wisely. Make sure you don’t throw every single fall decoration you have in one room. Be choosy about what you select and make sure everything complements each other.
  • Have fun. Make your space YOU. Play around with your design until it fits your style and you feel proud of what you have created. There is a real sense of accomplishment that comes with interior decorating and it is so much fun when we can see aspects of our personalities in our vignettes.
Small details like the buckle on the basket can tie everything together.

Overall, creating a beautiful fall vignette doesn’t have to be hard or costly. Recycle your old fall decor and give it a whole new look by playing around with your pieces and being creative.

Beautiful! I love the idea of choosing decor that doesn’t center around pumpkins and accents your space naturally! I will definitely keep this in mind for next year!

Thank you so much, Erin! I love pumpkins but sometimes I think they are used way too often in our fall decorations. There are so many other fall elements to use and they can be so fun to style and experiment with!
I’m so glad you liked the post, thank you SO much for reading!

I love this Fall Vignette! So very cozy.

I have been on the hunt for those exact same leaves, where did you find those?
    Thanks!

Thank you so much, Caitlin! These leaves were from a local small shop but I know that Magnolia Market carried them as well. Hopefully they will bring them back next year! I would just recommend looking at their online shop or looking at local home decor shops!
