Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all are enjoying this holiday with the people you love most. We have so much to be thankful for and I am so blessed to be able to spend the day with my sweet family.
I am so excited about this post because of how simple it was to create something that looks like it could be from Pottery Barn. I love Pottery Barn, but sometimes it’s so much fun to have the satisfaction of creating something beautiful yourself. I had been wanting to do something with these beautiful antique candlestick holders and I finally had the chance since I had some extra free time during my quarantine. I experimented with Rub n Buff for the first time and had so much fun.
I followed a tutorial from Jenna Sue Design and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I have seen several people experiment with Rub n Buff and I just loved the antique brass tones that were achieved. I knew I didn’t like the harsh yellow tone of the candlesticks at first, so this was the perfect project for me to start on.
Before:
I loved the brass but wanted them to be a little more golden toned than yellow. That’s why I couldn’t wait to try this technique! In Jenna’s post, she painted her items with black spray-paint and then used a makeup brush to apply the Rub n Buff. I followed her tutorial and loved the outcome! I am so excited to use it on some more of my projects to give them an updated feel as well.
After:
I love how you can see the black paint underneath the gold leaf Rub n Buff. I love the texture that these add to my decor. These were so easy to create, I would definitely check out Jenna Sue Design blog for more inspiration with Rub n Buff!
I love the warm candlelight and romantic lighting from candle tapers. There is just something about candlelight that is so cozy and warm. I hope you all enjoyed this post and had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families. I am so thankful for each and everyone of you who read and support my blog!
With Love, Emily
