A Cozy Christmas

December 24, 2020

Merry Christmas Eve, friends! I am so excited for tomorrow. I have been busy wrapping gifts, making and sending out my last few Christmas cards (A little late, I know. I need to plan better next year!), and planning some last minute Christmas blog posts and winter blog posts! Today I am going to be showing you my Christmas bedding and my refinished window frame all decked out with my favorite fresh cedar garland. I absolutely LOVE fresh garland and I started getting it last year. It makes all the difference and looks so beautiful.

I had painted this window frame white last year and loved it. I wanted to change it up a little so I repainted it black this summer. I love the rich tone of the black and I think it adds a new level of coziness to this space. These antique brassy/silver candle holders add the perfect amount of ambiance and shine to the window frame.

My plaid Christmas bedding was one of my favorite things to photograph this year. The Christmas lights and throw pillows make this such a cozy spot and I just love it! This is one of my favorite spots in my bedroom and changing out the decorations for all of the different seasons and holidays is so much fun. I love to be creative and find new ways to express my ideas. This ski lodge pillow was from Pottery Barn last year and I think it adds just the right touch to this space.

I can’t wait until I have more room to showcase all of my ideas, but this little cozy corner is one of my favorite places to be. The red plaid adds a lot of warmth to the space and adds the perfect touch of Christmas. It was from Target this year and I knew I needed it as soon as I saw it in stores. They had a few plaid options but this one was my favorite and I think it works so well.

Throw pillows and blankets are two of my favorite things to buy and I can’t seem to get enough. I switch them out all the time and use different varieties all year long, but fall and Christmas are my favorite times to use them. For my bedding this Christmas, I switched it out between a hunter green throw and a cozy cream throw. I love both and they added some great texture.

Below is the green throw I just talked about along with my ski pillow flipped around to show how versatile it can be. I use this pillow throughout the year just flipped around because it has a nice texture and feel to it. I put it in baskets, chairs, etc… and it looks great!

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with your families! We are all safe and cozy waiting for the anticipation for tomorrow. I hope to have another post up tomorrow when I get some downtime in between opening gifts and family time, so keep an eye out for that! ❤️

With Love, Em

To the girl that can’t let it go, I hear you. I To the girl that can’t let it go, I hear you. I wrote a new blog post just for you, up on prettyinplaids.com now. ❤️ Forgiveness is hard. It’s hard to move past things that hurt so deeply. I hope you will find peace in this post, because I understand how difficult letting go can be.

In other news, I’m feeling so pampered after meeting up with a friend to get a mani/pedi. I don’t do it often, but I just love getting my nails done. Having pretty nails makes me feel so confident. What have you done recently that makes you feel confident?
I was published in a national magazine! I have bee I was published in a national magazine! I have been keeping it a little secret from Instagram for a couple days, but one of my chalk paint projects was published in the June/July issue of @countrywomanmagazine! This is such an honor for me. I have dreamed of this moment and I still can’t believe it actually happened. I wrote a whole blog post that’s live now, so head to the link in my bio to read it! I am so grateful to have this space to share my ideas and designs, and to you all who support me along the way. You can find the magazine at places like Barnes and Noble, Target, Walmart, etc... all throughout the US and Canada. I can’t wait for you to read it! ❤️
One of my absolute favorite aspects of blogging ha One of my absolute favorite aspects of blogging has to be building relationships with brands that I have grown to love. @coppercure is one of my favorite shops for my love of copper and they were so generous to gift me with this pitcher. The quality is outstanding and it looks beautiful. I threw together a copper styling guide on the blog today and would love for you to check it out! The link is in my bio. ❤️
