Hello, friends! I am excited about this blog today because I am sharing one of my very favorite stores with you today, The Found Cottage in Hudsonville, MI! This is one of my favorite places to shop for my interior decorating. I have been visiting for several years now after reading one of the owners, Liz Marie Galvan’s, blog. She is a huge interior design blogger and her style is impeccable. Her home is such an inspiration and her shop is no different. Today I am going to be sharing a simple basket that could be used all throughout the year, but I’m going to be focusing on spring.
It can be difficult to start fresh when you have no idea what you are looking for. If I am losing inspiration, one of the easiest ways to get me back on track is to find two different items that would work well together and go from there. In this instance, I knew this ticking striped pillow would be perfect for spring, so I found a wicker basket and put them together. To finish the look, I added a simple tea towel to balance the contrast between the textures of the pillow and basket.
Simple Design Tips That Work Every Time:
- Find items in the same decor style and work from there.
- Look for pieces that complement those items. (These could be from a different style, but they work well together, such as cottage style with a touch of traditional.)
- Add some greens. (This is the needed finishing touch that makes a dramatic difference.)
- Move things around. (Sometimes things won’t look quite the way you pictured in your head. Play around with the styling until you are happy with it.)
- Keep it simple. (Don’t mix too many patterns or textures. If you have a patterned pillow, use a solid throw blanket, and vice-versa.)
I hope you enjoyed reading today! I have some more posts to share with you very soon. Happy Spring!
With Love, Em
