It has been so long since I last blogged on here. Around a year, as a matter of fact. There are several reasons why I took a long break from sharing content and my life with you, but the main reason was that I went back to school. I had taken a couple of gap years during college and I knew that it was time for me to go back. That being said, I needed to take a break from blogging to focus on my degree since that was more important at the moment.
I just graduated this past May with a degree in English, something that is very important to me. I hope to be able to use my degree to help others find their voice whether that be through publishing, editing, or teaching English as a second language. As exciting as that is for me, I’m so happy to be blogging again. Today, I wrote my first fall decor post of the year.
For this look, I wanted my favorite white cabinet that I refinished here to be the focal point. I refinshed this cabinet a couple years ago and it has been a favorite of mine ever since. Since it is finally September and starting to feel more like fall, I wanted to incorporate my fall decor with the cabinet to create a cozy look.
For the top of the cabinet, I mixed a few of my very favorite things: fall leaves and candles. I added some yellow faux leaves to a black metal container combined with a striped cloth from Pottery Barn. The different textures bring dimension and structure to the container. These candlesticks were a DIY Pottery Barn dupe that I made a couple years ago. I love to add them in to bring color and warmth to the space.
For the inside of the cabinet, I wanted to combine a few different textures to create a cozy look. A wicker basket, antique jug, plaid cloth, antique scale, plates, and a few pumpkins gave some warmth and subtle fall attributes that I was looking for. I absolutely love how it turned out and I can’t wait to create even more this season.
I love to mix in some fall colors with my neutral decor. Black, white, cream, and wood tones make up most of the space, but adding in pops of color here and there creates the warm element and atmosphere that I love.
With love, Em

You have no idea how overjoyed I was to open my email and find this! I’m so happy you are back! I’ve missed seeing all your cozy decor, especially with fall on the horizon. This is beautiful, my friend! We have similar candlesticks on our mantel, and I just love them. I can’t wait to see more of your fall decor!
